Action Alert
An action alert is a message that an organization sends to its supporters calling on them to take action to influence public policy. Typically, the Office of Life and Justice Ministries will email action alerts to parish representatives and respect life contacts in reference to timely issues, where prompt action is needed in order to affect upcoming legislation. Respect Life Ministry Action Alerts may ask supporters to contact their member of Congress or the New Jersey State Legislature by email or telephone regarding proposed legislation.
The Office of Life and Justice Ministries often forwards Action alerts from the Pro-Life Secretariat of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the New Jersey Catholic Conference, or the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment to our parish representatives and contacts.
The Action Alert begins with an explanation of the public policy issue and then instructs the recipients how they can impact the decision by contacting their legislators.
